We are looking for Air Source Heat Pump Installer to join Thermatic Homes.
To install domestic air source heat pump systems safely and to a high standard in line with supplied designs, specifications and RAMS. The role includes system installation, commissioning support, and customer handover, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and customer care.
This role requires full heating competence, including unvented hot water systems.

Hours & Location of Work:
Main location - This role a mobile role which will mainly be based across the North West but will also require travel to sites across the United Kingdom.
Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
- Unvented Hot Water Qualification (G3)
- Water Regulations (WRAS)
- CSCS card
- Asbestos Awareness
- Manual Handling
- Proven domestic ASHP installation experience.
- Confident working with low‑temperature heating systems.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic separation, flow rates, and system volumes.
- Competent installation of unvented hot water systems without supervision.
- High-quality pipework, insulation and system layout.
Desirable
- MCS‑related heat pump training (manufacturer or accredited provider)
- Level 3 Low Carbon Heating / Heat Pump qualification
- F‑Gas Category 1 (or willingness to obtain)
- Cylinder manufacturer training
- Experience working under ECO / retrofit programmes
Responsibilities include:
- Review the provided design pack, method statements and RAMS before works commence.
- Confirm plant locations, cylinder positioning, pipe routes and clearances on arrival.
- Prepare work areas, protect customer property, and maintain a tidy site throughout.
- Identify and escalate any site conditions that conflict with the design.
- Install outdoor ASHP units to manufacturer guidance (base, wall brackets, vibration isolation, clearances).
- Install internal components including buffer vessels, low‑loss headers, pumps, valves, and controls.
- Complete primary and secondary pipework to a high standard, including insulation and correct support.
- Integrate ASHP systems with existing or upgraded heating circuits (radiators / UFH).
- Install, modify or replace unvented hot water cylinders in line with:
- Building Regulations
- Manufacturer instructions
- Correctly fit all safety components including:
- Expansion vessels
- Pressure reducing valves
- Temperature & pressure relief valves
- Tundish and discharge pipework
- Complete fault‑free unvented installations ready for commissioning and certification.
- Carry out cylinder swaps, pipework alterations, radiator upgrades (TRVs, new radiators where required).
- Flush, fill, inhibit and pressure test systems prior to commissioning.
- Install controls, thermostats and sensors as specified in the design.
- Assist with or complete system commissioning in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Balance systems and confirm correct flow rates and temperatures.
- Demonstrate system operation to the homeowner, including:
- Basic controls
- Best‑practice usage
- Efficiency guidance
- Complete installation paperwork and commissioning checklists.
- Work strictly to all supplied RAMS and company H&S procedures.
- Comply with Building Regulations, MCS standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Use PPE correctly and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Maintain photographic evidence of installs for QA and audit purposes.
